What is reverse osmosis?

Water Treatments

In the last blog post we discussed how water is managed. Among its processes we talked about desalination and we made known the name of the most common method, reverse osmosis, although we do not go into details. In this article we will go deeper into this event.

What is reverse osmosis?

Reverse osmosis is the most advanced filtration system in terms of water purification process. It is a system that does not use chemicals or any substance sin.

What is the main purpose of reverse osmosis?

From salt and impure water get clean and safe water for consumption. Its effectiveness is very high, and for this reason it is often used in the vast majority of countries of the world as the most recurrent method for converting seawater, i.e. saltwater, into drinking water and capable of human consumption.

Thanks to reverse osmosis membranes we are able to separate pure water from a wide variety of viruses, bacteria, all kinds of contaminants and sea salts.

What is the reverse osmosis process?

The equipment that has this process causes the water to pass through a semi-permeable membrane that will only allow pure (unsalted) water to pass through. These membranes are able to retain all those substances that are in suspension in the water. The movement of water in this system is the other way around than the natural system. The water molecules are so small that they are the only ones that will be able to pass through the membrane and with which we will get the water without impurities that we want. This reverse osmosis membrane is the only one that achieves these results, no other system achieves such a high level of filtering.

Benefits of reverse osmosis

Thanks to this filtering method we obtain very light water and almost one hundred percent free of minerals.

Its semi-permeable membrane system manages to eliminate up to 95% of the substances that are in the water and that we want to suppress.

Its high level of purity provides this water with uses in places like: laboratories, industry, clinics, etc.

Water with a taste is soft and pleasant to taste.

High-quality water

It helps to improve the taste of all food in general, and especially pasta, legumes, soups…

Osmotized water is highly recommended for people with very low defenses and who are recovering from some type of virus or disease, even severe.

Installing a reverse osmosis equipment in your home gets rid of the smells and flavors characteristic of tap water.

Low sodium water, suitable for people with high pressure.
