When building a bathroom or refurbishing it, a lot of doubts arise about decoration, space, distribution… But one of the most common ones is to choose between installing a single lever or thermostatic taps.

Don’t worry, because at Llaberia we have both options available. In today’s post we are going to discuss the pros and cons of both taps so that you can choose the option that best suits what you are looking for in your bathroom.

When making a choice, it is very important to consider the following aspects: comfort, design, technology, and the most important one, the economic aspect.

Thermostatic taps

Let’s start by talking about what this type of tap consists of. The thermostatic tap allows us to choose the temperature we want, keeping it constant at all times, even if other taps are turned on in the same house.

The operation of this tap is simple. All we have to do is select the temperature we want with the handle, so that very quickly the cold water thermostatic mixes automatically with the hot water one, thus reaching the selected temperature very quickly.

These are the main advantages of this tap:

1. Energy and water saving

The thermostatic cartridges are prepared to reach the desired temperature very quickly. This avoids unnecessary waste of water waiting for the water to reach the temperature we want. We also have showers with EcoStop system to save up to 40% of water.

2. Temperature stability

This factor is very important as it basically determines one of the aspects mentioned above: comfort. It is very important for the user to reach the desired temperature from the start, as well as for this temperature to be maintained at all times without having to regulate the temperature variations of the water every now and then. For this reason, our Elite series showers are equipped with a push button that keeps the temperature constant with greater accuracy.

3. Safety

The safety of our customers is very important to Llaberia. For this reason, we have some Hi-Tech thermostatic showers, which are characterized by having the latest generation thermostatic tap which, as well as having the Eco Stop system and the safety button we mentioned earlier, has an anti-scald system which prevents burns on contact.

Thermostatic tap operation

If you have not yet had a thermostatic tap at home, do you know how it works? If you are used to the single lever tap, you may find it weird, but it is very simple, you’ll see!

  • This tap has two controls: with one you can regulate the water flow and with the other you can choose the desired water temperature manually.
  • “Relaxing” function, that’s what we call it in Llaberia Group. These taps, especially the built-in ones, stand out for having several outlets that allow us to install a hydromassage system with jets all over the body, or sprinklers with several water outlets (rain, waterfall, powerful jet, misting, etc.). In this way, the user can enjoy the most the moment of showering while experiencing different sensations.

Single lever taps

This type of faucet is the most common and known by customers. This mixer is one whose water flow and temperature is chosen by moving the handle to the left or right (for temperature) and up and down (for the flow). Therefore, with this tap you can set the water temperature and flow rate to your liking with a single handle, without the need to turn two knobs.

However, the main advantage of this type of tap is that it is more economical than the previous one. Besides, the maintenance of the cartridges is not as required as thermostatic taps.

However, it must be said that this type of faucet offers less comfort, since it takes longer to reach the desired temperature, thus wasting more water.

Single lever or thermostatic taps are quite different, but they are also very personal of each client. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with the faucet you choose and that it adapts to your day-to-day life and helps you to improve your hygiene routines.
