Pools

When the end of summer comes, we started to notice those cool mornings and those colder nights. We don’t want the time to leave the pool because the temperature no longer accompanies so much and no one wants to have that bad time… There we begin to realize that the summer season is over and that now it is time to think about the maintenance of the pool for the winter. This maintenance is important so that we can get to the next summer in perfect condition. A few years ago this process was based on emptying and cleaning the pool, but it has evolved in a way that currently consists of a hibernation system.

What’s this about? It mainly consists of conditioning the facilities of our swimming pool and by means of chemicals for water preserve it in the best conditions in order to save time and money next summer.

The essential pre-remiss is that the pool grades cannot be above 15o. When the pool no longer exceeds this figure you can proceed with the hibernation. Here are the most important steps to accomplish our goal:

Step 1: The first and most important thing to do is to carefully clean both the bottom and the walls of the pool.Once done, we will proceed to clean the pump pre filter and skimmers. No traces of leaves, sand, or any other material can be left.

Step 2: once everything clean we must check the pH level of our pool. This one has to be between 7.2 and 7.4 so if you don’t

we are within these values we have to regulate it until we get it. How? We can use either pH Plus or pH Minor.

Step 3: Now we will apply a shock chlorination. To do this we must use trichlorine compacts. It is very important that we make sure that this product spreads evenly throughout the pool so we will leave the filter running for about 5 or 6 hours.

Step 4: the day after we have added the trichlorine compacts we must clean the filter thoroughly. We will do it with the help of extra descaling. The product must reach the inside of the filter. If we start it for 4 or 5 hours it will be more effective. Then we’ll stop it and clean it up.

Step 5: finally we just have to throw wintering product and distribute it all over the pool. You should take into account if your pool is liner or polyester fiber or if it is gresite or painted, because depending on the type you have to use one product or another. The product wintering we’ll have to apply it every 3 months.

It is also highly recommended to use a cover throughout the winter. In the long run it will help us to save a lot of money on maintenance, as it will prevent dirt from entering and losing water.

After following this hibernation treatment you and your pool will be ready to endure the winter without suffering any damage. You will arrive next summer with the pool in an unbeatable state and ready to give you the first dip!

What are the main advantages we will achieve?

  • We will not lose water or too little, which is very important in our country.
  • We’ll protect the pool from the winter weather.
  • The hibernation process is not expensive and you don’t have to spend much time either.
  • Subsequent cost savings.
  • The pool will look good all year round.
  • We will keep dirt, leaves and bugs mainly away from pool water.

Now you’re up to date, so start getting ready!
