1979 - THE BEGINNING
Llaberia Plástics, S.L. was founded in 1994, but its beginnings date back to 1979. Back then, the company had a staff of three employees and was diversified into different activities, one of its minor activities being the installation of irrigation systems in the agricultural and gardening sector on a regional level.
1986 - PROGRESS
The activity made satisfactory progress, increasing the volume of installations and sales of some accessories. Due to this new demand in 1986, the decision was made to build a small 340 m2 shop.
1993 - OWN MANUFACTURING
A few years later, an investment was made in the first machine for our own manufacture of machined PE (polyethylene) parts. An increase in demand was detected for these items and in 1993, an already existing facility (used for other activities) was conditioned, and new machines were purchased to expand the range of machined PE parts. The success of the three main activities in recent years, the marketing and manufacture of products for hydraulic applications and installations increased, as did the staff.
2000 - NEW PRODUCTION BUILDING
In 2000 a 3000 m2 production building was built to replace the previous constructions and two injectors were added to manufacture PE parts, making the company the only one in the country to carry out this activity. As a result, their staff grew to forty people.
Investments continued to be made in one-of-a-kind equipment in Spain to weld large-diameter pipes and plastic accessories. The installation business continued to gain ground, and the company began to work for large construction companies engaged in both civil and public works. It became necessary to found a new company independent from Llaberia Plàstics, S.L. Part of the workers were transferred to the new company, called Llaberia Obra Hidráulica.
2007 - NEW FACILITIES
With the increase in the demand for direct sales, Llaberia Plàstics inaugurated a new 5500 m2 structure in 2007 to replace the previous one. In these facilities, 3600 m2 are used for sales to hydraulic sector professionals and 2000 m2 for offices, meeting rooms, conference rooms and storage.
It is worth highlighting the effort made for the design, functionality, materials and construction of this building to obtain results that were nothing like the typical look in the industrial sector, creating a modern image that was at the same time visually adapted to the surroundings.
Parallel to the investment in the structure, the company also invested in technical training on the products for its retail sales staff to provide better service for customers.
2008 - AWARD FOR THE “BEST COMPETITIVE BUSINESS” AT THE PIMEC AWARDS
In 2008, we won the award for the “Best Competitive Business” as part of the Pimec Awards, and the “Ser Botiguer” award at the Reus Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation Awards in October 2008.
2010 - THE COMPANY’S INTERNATIONALISATION PROCESS BEGINS
During the company’s long history, it began to receive requests from other countries, that were managed independently. Anticipating a possible crisis in the near future and with the support of management for an international vision, Llaberia Plàstics formally established its exports department in 2010. Since then, the company has actively strived to win new customers.
As part of the endeavour to start the company’s internationalisation process, this year an extra investment was made in laboratory equipment for carrying out quality controls and testing manufactured products. This strategy opens up more possibilities for our products in the international market by obtaining quality certifications such as ISO 9001, WRAS and Attestation de Conformité Sanitaire.
2011 - NEW SHOP IN TARRAGONA
In 2011, we opened a shop in Tarragona’s Francolí Industrial Estate with the intention of expanding our customer portfolio in a large area that could reach as far as Penedès, as well as converting sporadic local customers into stable ones.
